The American Psychological Association selected the Rivista Sperimentale di Freniatria for the PsycINFO Journal Coverage List (bibliographic database that collects, worldwide, the most important journals and publications of the field, and analyses articles and citations)

At present, the Rivista Sperimentale di Freniatria proposes monographs on relevant mental health questions, following a multi-professional outlook (i.e. medical, nursing, educational, social, legal), but answering also the queries of persons aware of promoting mental well-being, or pain, through human interactions, social roles and cultures.

Founded in 1875 by Carlo Livi
The Rivista Sperimentale di Freniatria is the oldest Italian psychiatric review. It was published for the first time in 1875. It covers mental health issues with an interdisciplinary approach with the aim to encourage dialogue between contiguous disciplines that share an interest in the individual and society. In short, the review explores the various meanings of psychological well-being and suffering.
Over the years, the journal has followed the advancement of theories and practices in neurology, psychiatry, psychopathology, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, anthropology, sociology, and more recently in biological psychiatry and ethno-psychiatry.
